we eat a lot of burgers. not on purpose, but when we are out running errands and looking for a good, quick, inexpensive bite, burgers are where it's at. while at lunch on saturday, CL and I were talking about all the burger places in austin, and how they rank.. which got me thinking.. we have a LOT of great burger places in the capital city. here are our faves.. in no particular order!

phils has a great burger.. and they are all named after areas of town! (theres an allandale, brentwood, rosedale, 78704!) sourdough buns, fresh veggies, and you can complete your order with mix fries (sweet potato AND regular!) and a bonus.. stadium to-go cups! i love my phils cups!

okay, if you've been living in austin for more than a hot second and haven't been to top notch, you are doing yourself a disservice. an austin institution since 1971 top notch has a delicious menu full of burgers, fried chicken and other delicious fried goodies. we havent tried the fried chicken, but have heard nothing but good things about it. and the onion rings? best in town. they now accept credit and debit cards too!

part of the rudy's bbq family, mighty fine has some yummy burgers! all fresh ingreditents, crinkle cut fries (my fav!) and delish bluebell ice cream shakes, you can't go wrong. they also have a chopped chili dog that tastes as good as it sounds! and bonus! to-go stadium cups too!

a no nonsense burger joint, wallys has yummy burgers, chicken strips, and fries for those craving a quick bite on the north side. make sure if you dont like mustard to tell them.. they use a lot!

you know how they say if there is a line, it must be good? well that holds true there. its easy to find on SOCO.. just look for the line. all fresh, organic ingredients, local beer, and delicious curry ketchup, hop doddy doesn't disappoint. bonus? they spike their milkshakes. oh yea.

two words. stuffed. burgers. with a menu full of creatievely named burgers (the norma jean! the foghorn leghorn!) hot dogs (um hello the 'snoop dog!) and sides, this un-diet friendly eatery is quickly becoming the east-sides go to burger joint.

a true burger stand, P. Terry's is an austinites go to burger. although i've only actually eaten their chicken burger (trust me, its delicious), P.Terry's is definately one of my faves. and their fresh lemonade? my mouth is watering just thinking about it!

an austin tradition since 1939, hut's is the definition of austin. local and delicious. meat purchased in south austin, over 20 choices (plus build your own- the options are endless!), and a hamburger happy hour (2 for 1 burgers, wednesdays 6-10pm!), Hut's is your downtown burger destination.

organic, sustainable, grassfed, free-range. all ways to elevate your dining experience. elevation burger allows you to build your own burger (3-10 patties!) and top them off with an assortment of yummy toppings (blue cheese!) cutting carbs? they can wrap your burger in lettuce!
