this is why i love my fiance.

monday night i got home late from an interview i was doing for the magazine. i was really confused as i walked up the stairs into our townhouse.. the dogs were in their room, the lights were all off, it smelled amazing, and there were candles, everywhere. i was completely thrown off. i yelled 'i know your not proposing! we are already engaged!'
(via weheartit)
i walked in to a spotless, candle lit house.. every candle we own was lit.. from the kitchen to the living room.. all the way upstairs. he had even cleaned the sheets, made the bed, everything. (the rest of the house was already clean from the weekend) he just wanted to do a little something special for me before i started my new job. i know, sweet, huh?
he even recorded dancing with the stars for me.
what a catch!
i love you cl.

Last Friday Night.. and the rest of the weekend too...

better late than never!
last friday night CL and i headed south on 35 to new braunsfels to visit my dad for his birthday. he took us to dinner (funny how that works lol) at coopers bbq- OMG so good. (this is 3 peoples food, don't worry mom, i didnt eat it all. nic did.)

we then met up with my brother, who also came down, and we went to billy's to watch the midnight river choir.

we all had a great time! it was fun just hanging out. we had every intention on being home by midnight as we had people staying at our house for ACL, but as it happens, we didn't get home until 4am.

i love ACL weekend, not because we go (we havent been in 2 years!) but because some of our favorite friends from houston have a permenant reservation in our guest room and come to visit! its always a great time when ryan and jamie come to play!

we hung low all saturday and grabbed a bite at 'your moms burgers' before they headed out to the festival. oh did i mention it was RAINING? yea, it was. anywho. your moms burgers-- stuffed burger heaven. SO good.

we met up with them at betsy's after the show was over that evening and started the evening off with the most intense game of jenga, ever.

this pic sorta summarizes the evening. haha.

sunday was another slow start, as we were out til 4am, again. we grabbed a late lunch at black sheep lodge-- they claim to have the best burger in austin, and im not going to disagree with them.

we dropped them off at ACL then went home to relax. i cooked sauce and meatballs ( i swear i did more than eat that weekend!) amd right before CL went to go pick them up i got the best email saying that..

I GOT A JOB!
yup. a job. a real (part time) job. in interior design. it was like the stars aligned. i really love the designer im working for and she has a ton of great projects going on. i am so blessed and excited and overjoyed and every other good adjective i could possibly use! i have to thank hailey for the referral-- girl, you saved me from insanity!

hope you all have been having a great week!
more to come tomorrow!

3 years.

three years ago i made the best decision to jump into a relationship with CL. its been the craziest ride, but the best adventure i could have ever imagined.
i can't wait to call you my husband.. only 240 days to go!
happy anniversary babe!
(even though we BOTH forgot.. haha) i love you!

weekend rewind.

what a busy weekend it was!

early saturday morning, CL and i got up, and on the road and headed to dallas for the day! of course we stopped in waco.. you know, to use the restroom AND get coffee from common grounds. yup. we waited an hour or so to get coffee. like it was so many times before, it was delish. only one complaint-- they don't have the s'more coffee anymore! lame. so we both got a milky way instead. yum!

we made it to plano in the early afternoon, and got to spend the day with CLs sister, her new baby gwen (our niece), her fiance john, and his son wesley. it was so great to meet the baby. she is so sweet and tiny. it was so sweet to see CL interact with her. he's going to be a great dad some day. kirbi looks amazing for just having a baby less than 2 weeks ago-- she was seriously all baby!
(yup. im marrying that guy. so sweet.)

that evening, we met up with brittany and her hubs brandon at their adorable apartment (no, seriously, adorable!) then we all went to dinner. we went to blue mesa and it was delish! i even tried one of their 'blue' margaritas! it was the first time we had seen each other since their wedding and our engagement, so we had lots to chat about! i mean, we talk every day but you know! it was so wonderful to spend time with them! hopefully we can come visit again soon, or they can make it down to austin!

after dinner we hit the road and headed home. but not without stopping in west to get some kolaches! of course they didn't last long, we had them for breakfast on sunday morning, and they were delicious! if your ever in the area, you MUST stop at the czech stop and get some! YUM!

the rest of the weekend was pretty laid back.. except for that whole running over and killing pepe le pew and losing my debit card, but thats a sore subject.
hope you all had a great weekend!

happy birthday carmen!

a very happy birthday wish to my bestie carmen!
i hope you have a fantastic day and even better year!
LOVE YOU!!
xoxo

remembering 9/11

Sunday, September 11, 2011

me and michelle in NYC april 1999
i dropped my camera and exposed the film. i have a panoramic photo of just me, and the exposure is only over the towers. it's very eerie.

(via google images)
i remember it so vividly. i was 16 sitting in 11th grade bio (in mr. baacke's class) when i heard the news. a plane had hit the world trade center. i went to a pretty lax private school, so we flipped on the tv.. and watched in horror as the events of the day were beginning to unfold. i had a blue polo on and my red and white DC shoes i got from work. i remember where i was sitting in that room, and i remember the panic that overcame my body as i knew that i had family there. i ran to call home to make sure everyone was safe. (they were, thankfully).
(via google images)
we were released early. our school, and my home is minutes from NASA in Clear Lake, which was thought to be another target so they wanted us to be home with our families. i remember the drive with my then boyfriend. he lived on the other side of the lake and the drive through NASA was the fastest way home. i remember how desolate and empty it was driving through the campus. NASA had been evacuated as well. it was quiet, and scary.

i remember getting home and watching it on tv with my mom and being confused. i remember the sound of the drones, and other military planes watching over us.

and i remember thinking why? why were thousands of people innocently dying? and why was it happening at all. i kept all the newspapers, and magazine clippings in a taped-shut box in my closet. i still have it. (hopefully, it was there last time i was home!) i still can't read them. i still can't watch the specials on tv. im not ready, and don't know when i will be.

i am so thankful for all the brave men and women who became heroes that day. for the ordinary who stepped up and became extraordinary. for the soldiers that have and will fight for freedom in the land of the free and the home of the brave. my heart still aches for those who lost a loved one and for the children that will never know a parent.

so much has changed over the last ten years. from world leaders, wars, personal accomplishments and so much more. how do do you remember?

playing catch up.

geez it's been a while. i've been so consumed with just about everything, that i haven't had a moment to sit down, and pound out a few sentences!

between everything else going on, molly went in for surgery on tuesday for her ovariohysterectomy (aka spay) and hernia repair. i went to drop her off and barely made it out of the vet's office before losing it. if dropping your pet off for surgery is anything like dropping your first born off at school for the first time, im going to have a serious breakdown at pre-k. it was so sad. just waving to her goodbye, knowing she had NO idea what i had just left here there for!

anyways, all went well, and CL and I picked up a very mad, groggy molly that afternoon, and we have been taking special care of her since. i just can't wait 'til we have to take her to get her stitches out. geez.

lets see.. oh Im an AUNT! (well not technically (not until we are officially married!) but CLs sister had her baby! gwen christine was born friday, september 2, at 8:51pm. she was 9lbs, 1.2 oz., and 21.25". Once we go see her (i can't wait!) i may post a pic or two! it was an exciting evening.. the baby was born, AND baylor beat rose bowl champs TCU in a very exciting football game.

i may or may not have some VERY exciting news, but in the mean time, think happy, positive thoughts!
