Hope you all had a great thanksgiving! Sorry i've been MIA.. i've been out of town aaaaaand I got a new computer! that means lots more blogging.. partially because i can see the screen better (its huge!) and partially because this new machine is SO fast! ahh love it!
(via google images)
its touch screen-- how cool is that?! i know i sing apple's praises, but for the size, price, and cool stuff it comes with (especially memory and hard drive) it is worth every penny! i still have my macbook pro and will continue to use it when i travel, etc., but this will be my new primary computer! woo hoo!

i'll be back tomorrow with thanksgiving updates! including a few christmas tree pics!

warrior dash!

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

last saturday was the day! warrior dash!
after weeks of "training", CL and I made it!
It was SO much fun!
it was 3.2 miles of mud, dirt, hay, ups, downs, and fun!

it was all fun and games til the end when in CL's words, 'thats how i operate', i busted my butt and tore up my knee and majorly sprained my ankle. but have no fear.. with a little laughter i got up and made it across the finish line!

see!

i look SO thrilled to be done! haha
there are more pics to come.. but they haven't posted them yet!

oh babies!

so if my friends and family aren't engaged and getting married, they are having babies! both my cousin nicole (and jonathan) and my boss claudia (and matt) both delivered beautiful babies this weekend! it was the best surprise finishing warrior dash (will blog about that later!) and checking my phone to see two beautiful baby photos in my text message inbox!

welcome to the world little ones!

sophia michele!
congrats nicole and jonathan!!

henry cranston!
congrats claudia and matt!!

can't wait to meet you both!

24 hours in the homeland.

last week (thurs-fri) i trekked allllll the way to houston to see my best friend michelle! i hadn't had the chance to see her since she got engaged, and well, it was time! we spent the day catching up, oohing and aahing over wedding stuff (so fun!) and eating! we met up with all the girls (robin, april, margeaux, stephanie, mrs. maggie, ann, and marisol) at mccormick & schmicks' for happy hour food, some music, and a lot of pinot noir!
ran into kristen! love her blog All in My Twenties!

it was such a great night! everyone was in a festive mood, the weather was awesome, and i was even asked to be michelle's co-maid of honor! (with robin.. since i live in austin, shes going to pick up the slack when i can't get to houston!) i am so excited and honored to stand by her when she marries eddie!!

after happy "hour" (we were there for 3 or 4 haha) we headed out to Washington and continued having a good time.  a few more drinks, a lot of laughter, and some pork tacos later we called it a night.

it was so fun and refreshing to take a quick trip home. the humidity didn't even get to me! i met up with my mom on my way out for some yummy lunch at grand lux (mmm!) and then headed back to the atx! i wasn't even gone long enough for CL to dirty up the house ;)

Christmas Cards from Shutterfly!

Monday, November 22, 2010

so the holidays are right around the corner! and if your like me, you've been scouring the 'net for the cutest (and most affordable) christmas cards.. and if you haven't checked out Shutterfly you definately need to!

CL and I ordered our  first christmas cards from shutterfly last year and they were super cute, extremely affordable and VERY easy to create and order! it was so fun for the two of us to put our heads together and pick out and send our first christmas cards as a couple! i think it took longer to pick out a photo than a card!

head over to www.shutterfly.com and check out their goods!! they have all sorts of styles.. traditional, contemporary, flat cards, folded cards.. you name it! they even have matching gift tags! so cute!
here is the link to the gift tags!

i can't wait to pick out the card we are going to send out this year! we have a few picked out as 'finalists' but no clear front runner yet! we are having some photos taken, and when we get them, i'll post a few and have everyone vote on their favorite!

here are a few of my favorite cards that they have this year!
totally something that i would send.. the black and white photo and the naughty or nice? LOVE it!

love the 3 photos! we used a 3 photo card last year.. one for CL and I, and one for each dog! and the black and white photos with the festive lettering.. totally getting in the holiday spirit!

totally loving the black cards this year! so chic!

this is the design our cards had last year, but it was portrait, and had 3 pictures!

love the non-traditional colors! this is so fun, and has room for one-three photos in case you can't choose just one!

which one will we choose?! you'll have to wait and see!

the older i seem to be getting (2010 has FLOWN by) the more i realize that we (CL and I) are adults. while looking around our spotless house (mom- you'd be proud!) i noticed some things that made me giggle and go 'is this for real'. yes. this is real.

  • our refrigerator. its full of V8, regular and lemon Perrier, and fruit. um what? where are the days of junk food and soda?
  • we spent last saturday cleaning house. vacuuming, sweeping, showers & toilets, baseboards, and laundry. who are we? oh and then we brushed the dogs teeth. i mean really?
  • we have a routine. 5:45 am alarm. CL work. me up- dogs out, dogs fed, shower, work, CL home, CL class on MW, gym, dinner and relaxation time. not every day does it go like this, but more than likely it is. and the weekends, WHOA. what out. we may sleep in til 9am.
  • our fridge is covered in wedding invitations, baby shower invitations, save the dates, and wedding programs. um what?
  • we have a seasonal closet with color coded, labeled bins. yup. go ahead. make fun. but we know exactly where all our holiday decorations are!

it's beginning to look a lot like the holidays!

now, i love the holidays- but i've just now gotten in to them.. i still haven't had a pumpkin spice latte, nor have i hit the peppermint mocha stage yet, but CL and i have started preparing for the holiday season and its getting me pumped for this cooler weather!

these are a few items that have gotten us in the fall/holiday spirit!

(via google images)

need i say more? we made silver dollar sized cookies (you know bite size!) with a little cream cheese icing.. delish! they are the perfect sweet snack.. especially after a long run!

(via google images)

a rosemary bush. now we have 2 outside our house, but this one makes the inside smell wonderful. it was an impulse buy (thanks CL) but its wonderful.. plus we can cook with it!

this guy. we are getting the decorating bug! CL has already mapped out a design for our christmas lights this year.. pics to come, i promise!

this gem of a candle my mom bought us. we haven't even lit it and it smells amazing.

my wish list.

(via weheartit)

all i want for christmas is for something GOOD to happen to me.

now, im not selfish, but i've been really good this year- i've been patient, kind, comforting, understanding, forgiving, supportive-- you name it. and i deserve some sort of good-ness in my life. not anyone elses. everyone else seems to be having a great year (careers, engagements & weddings, babies, etc). me, not so much. its just been one trial and tribulation after the other. my heart and (emotional) well being has been worn thin and i could really use some rejuvenation in my life. for real.

so santa, God, anyone. if your listening. all i want is some good in my life.

"I hate to see you cry
Lying there in that position
There's things you need to hear
So turn off your tears and listen

Pain throws your heart to the ground
Love turns the whole thing around
No, it won't all go the way it should
But I know the heart of life is good

You know it's nothing new
Bad news never had good timing
Then the circle of your friends
Will defend the silver lining

Pain throws your heart to the ground
Love turns the whole thing around
No, it won't all go the way it should
But I know the heart of life is good

Pain throws your heart to the ground
Love turns the whole thing around
Fear is a friend who's misunderstood
But I know the heart of life is good

I know it's good"

no thanks.

i should have been a hooker. (prostitute? escort? is there a P.C. way to say that?) those bitches get to travel the world in private planes, fancy cars, and yachts, stay in fancy hotels that they could NEVER afford, and buy all the fancy shoes, jewelry, and booze their little hearts desire.

but then again, would i want to paid to be loved? no. would i want to be the girl on the side? no. would i want to be that girl that everyone wonders who she slept with for that? absolutely not.

and guess what? im not jealous of that. or that life style. must be lonely. and not to judge, but that lifestyle ages you and it shows!

my love is free, and wanted, and he lets me know he loves me all the time too. and i wouldn't change that for any fancy hotel suite, private jet, or louboutins. well.. maybe the shoes ;)

update!

Monday, November 8, 2010

i've been pretty m.i.a. in the blog-o-sphere lately, and it's not because i hate you all- i've been seriously busy! but im all caught up and can now catch you all up on my really exciting life! ;)

i just realized that i haven't even shared halloween with you all! yikes!

first off, BAYLOR beat TEXAS in austin. OH HELL YES. im still on cloud 9-- baylor could lose the rest of the season and i'd still be happy. SIC EM!

so halloween was a lot of fun! I dressed up as border patrol, and CL took the role as my illegal! haha we went to a party at our friends house on saturday night. he lives above 6th street, so we could see the masses of people on 6th street but from the comfort of kirkland and emmitt's loft.

there was only one incident, involving myself of course! APD busted in because someone threw A CUP OF BEER off the balcony. lame. i think they thought they were going to bust a bunch of underage drinkers, but i was the youngest person there at 25... anyways, the cops accidently kicked the pull up bar off the floating staircase and it clocked me in the head, then took off. i was stunned- it hurt, yes, but it scared me more than anything! i had a pretty nice lump on my head and is still a little sore. luckily i had on a wig, and the bar was padded, so i think that helped a lot!

sunday we took it easy and waited for our ONE trick or treater. hey we had more than last year!

this past weekend was full of fun events!

friday was the Celebration of Life Luncheon! I was on the committee, so it was awesome seeing everything come together so nicely. the luncheon was beautiful, we raised a LOT of money, and everyone enjoyed themselves!

sunday was race for the cure! CL, mom and I all participated, and by participated i mean we all jogged the 5k! it was my first 5k and i am SO proud of myself! it was a little harder than i anticipated- i forget that austin is hilly!!

listy list.

a list. of things i don't understand.

(via nataliedee.com)

  1. being 'fly' like a g6. last time i checked, a g6 was a pontiac... since when are those cool?
  2. why people can't be themselves? be yourself. i know imitation is the best form of flattery, but one of me is enough.
  3. clothing sizes are seriously out of wack. why can't they all get on a universal sizing chart??
  4. why is it that when one area of your life starts to be blissful, everything else falls to pieces?
  5. my dogs both have allergies. for real. its like a sneezing, itchy, running nose factory over here. does this mean when i have kids im going to have the ever-present sick kids??
  6. i hasn't been november for 10 days and it is already christmas. i mean, im just as excited about the holidays as the next person, but christmas decorations and music already? what happened to thanksgiving?
  7. did i miss something or does everyone seem to have started their own photography business? i feel like every time i sign onto facebook, its another photography business! some good, some BAD.
  8. i H A T E jealous people. get your own life.
  9. im a kind hearted person and people seem to take advantage of me. not that i let people walk all over me, but um hello, im a person too! and i have feelings!
  10. the time change is really screwing me up this year!

my best friend is getting MARRIED!

Congrats yall! xoxo

i voted!

you should too!

this was my 1st time voting ( well im person.. ive usually voted absentee because of school!) it was super easy, and very quick! i was a little confused at where to go and i told the lady 'sorry I keep asking questions, but this is my first time!' she was like 'HEY YALL WE GOT A NEWBIE!!' and then the entire room started clapping. yes. that is my life!
