A Christmas Affair and Baylor Beats OU. What a weekend!

Sunday, November 20, 2011

first off. SIC EM!
now back to your normal broadcast.

this weekend started on wednesday for me. not because i had the days off, but because of all the fun festivities that i got to attend volunteer for! as part of the 2011-12 provisional class of the junior league of austin, we get to volunteer for two shifts at A Christmas Affair. its a huge christmas market that the league puts on every year. one of my shifts was at the preview gala.. and im so glad it was! it was the first time i got to get into market, and it was a black tie affair! it was so pretty to see everyone dressed in their formal attire and tuxs. although i didnt get to dress up, it was fun to see all the other people dressed to the 9s! my second shift was during 'girls night' and it wouldn't have been bad except for 2 reasons. reason #1. i had a traffic shift and it was 30 degrees out. reason #2. my family was in town and all at dinner without me. bummer. the shift was actually a lot of fun and i met some really great girls. i would definitely do that shift again!

friday is when the real fun began! i along with my mom, mmdr, and diane (mmdr's bff) got to attend and shop at A Christmas Affair! we got there around 10:30ish and it was already packed! luckily we had pre-ordered and received our tickets in the mail (the line for tickets was insane!) and walked right in. we shopped and shopped and picked up a few things. i got a pair of cake forks for the wedding.. one says 'i do' and the other one says 'me too'. they are SO cute! we had lunch tickets for the tea room which was really nice to be able to sit and relax and enjoy a nice meal.

we shopped a little more before calling it a day. we stopped by nic's new house and picked up his laundry (again). we headed over to the four seasons to kill time, look at the venue where we are tying the knot (again) and to grab a glass of wine at trio. every time we go up there i  get more and more excited about the wedding. its going to be perfect!

we had dinner at bess, one of my favorite restaurants in austin. odds are i've taken you there or recommended it if you are in town. so yummy! we got the private nook, which i secretely always wanted to sit in. it was so nice to have a good, relaxing dinner with the fam.

Saturday we didn't have anything to do and just laid low. i hit up hobby lobby to get some christmas ornament crafts for my christmas ornament exchange this year. i love this time of year-- glitter and sparkle and decorations galore!

oh and then this silly news. BAYLOR BEAT OU. um heck yes. it was really one of the best games i've watched. so exciting, so exhilarating, so nerve-wracking. i don't know where this baylor team came from, but it was about time that they are taking down opponents like this. RG3 is the man. by beating #5 OU, not only will BAYLOR move up in the rankings, but the entire BCS system is totally screwed up. SIC EM!!!

hope you all had a great weekend.. only a few days left until thanksgiving!

a little sneak peek!

Thursday, November 17, 2011

so we took our engagement photos last sunday, and had a serious blast. and to our surprise, our photographer sent over 11, yes 11, sneak peek photos-- and they are ALL AMAZING. im only going to share one for now..

weekend rewind (a wedding included!)

Monday, November 14, 2011

i hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! mine started off on friday... 11-11-11! i picked up a shift at the florist (check back for more on that!) which was cool to "attend" a wedding on that awesome day! we all sat around and waited until the clock struck 11:11am. did you? did you make a wish? i did!

after i was done CL took me to get my bangs trimmed at the mall, and he suggested that we go look at tux's at mens wearhouse. all of a sudden he was getting fitted for his tuxedo for the wedding and it all became very real! we have 6 months to go!

saturday we laid low until it was time to get ready and head to waco for katie and garretts wedding. we got to campus a little early, so we were able to take a short walk. fall (and spring!) were always my favorite times on campus. everything is always so beautiful.

we headed to the chapel at truett seminary for the ceremony. it was really pretty. all my years at baylor and i had never been in there!

the ceremony was beautiful and short, just how they should be :) its always nice to see two old friends tie the knot! after the ceremony we headed over to the palladium for the reception. it was a ton of fun and it was good catching up with my friends from baylor.

we of course stopped at common grounds on the way home, and thank goodness we did. around 12:30am about 20 miles (17.8 to be exact) outside austin we had a blowout. luckily CL can change a tire and we thought we'd be on our way. apparently not.

when we got the audi, it had a different spare tire, but i had it checked and both the audi dealer and discount tire told us it wouldn't be a problem.. yea right. not even a mile down the road, the lugs bolted and the tire was falling off. talk about scary. come to find out the rim doesnt exactly fit the car, and some part that holds the wheel on (i have NO idea what it's called) was broken, so that was fun. luckily i have AAA and we were able to get a tow home.

all of this would have been fine except for two things.. we only have one car right now, and our engagement photos were the next day. luckily my brother came through and luckily i had hidden away some emergency cash, so we were able to replace all 4 tires and get the car repaired.

we made it to our photos, i even made it to my makeup appt! we had SO much fun and we both absolutely LOVE our photographer. i cannot wait to see and share the pics!

heres a sneak of my makeup- i had it done at bobbi brown at nordstrom and i loved it! thanks maddi!

these were the previous two years christmas cards...

these are two of the books i've made!

here are a few of my favorites! this will be our last "single" christmas card, so i want them to be super fun and cute!

i love spontaneous date nights. and CL and I are now to the point, where we can afford to start enjoying the city a little more every now and then. he won tickes to the B-52s, and even though i was in a bad mood, we made a night of it! we grabbed some tex mex before the show on 6th then headed to stubbs!
a few things i did not know that night that i wish i would have.
#1. ALWAYS check the weather before you attend an event outside. A cold front may blow through and you may freeze in your cute outfit.
#2. the B-52s have a HUGE gay following. it was pretty rad.
#3. just dance. we are going to make fun of you regardless if you know what you are doing, or if you look like your seizing.
(please excuse my crappy iPhone 3G photos. we forgot the camera in the car and neither of our phones have flashes.)

then on Friday after design excellence, CL headed to dinner at tenOak. we were already in town, so we figured we'd make a night of it! we split a pizza and just enjoyed being out. we were going to head home, but i insisted on checking out hangar lounge before we headed home. hangar has one of the best views (in my opinion) of downtown. the weather was crisp and cool and it was great being out, having a few drinks, and just relaxing.

yes. we were those people taking pics of each other.

the rest of the weekend we just relaxed and prepped for our engagement photos that were supposed to be sunday afternoon. but alas, the damn weather. it actually RAINED, so we have to reschedule! lame. hopefully the weather will cooperate next weekend!!
