growing pains.

She's all laid up in bed with a broken heart
While i'm drinking jack all alone in my local bar
And we don't know how we got into this mad situation
Only doing things out of frustration
Trying to make it work but man these times are hard
She needs me now but I can't seem to find a time
I've got a new job now in the unemployment line
And we don't know how we got into this mess it's a gods test
Someone help us cause we're doing our best

Trying to make it work but man these times are hard
But we're gonna start by drinking old cheap bottles of wine
Sit talking up all night
Saying things we haven't for a while, a while yeah
We're smiling but we're close to tears Even after all these years
We just now got the feeling that we're meeting
For the first time

She's in line at the door with her head held high
While I just lost my job but didn't lose my flight
But we both know how we're gonna make it work when it hurts
When you pick yourself up you get kicked in the dirt

Trying to make it work but man these times are hard
But we're gonna start by drinking old cheap bottles of wine
Sit talking up all night
Saying things we haven't for a while...
-the script 'for the first time'

something about these lyrics hit home. i can't hear this song without tearing up. maybe it's because i identify with them so well.
you all know its been a rough, unemployed road. and it just seems to  be getting tougher.. especially trying to plan a wedding on top of everything. CL and I have learned that we just need to enjoy our time and in the end, its about us and over the last few weeks we have learned more about each other than we ever thought we could. i am glad that we are experiencing all these growing pains now- its not only making us stronger, but we will be entering marriage with such a strong relationship, that i have no fear (not that i did before, but you know) of anything. i know CL is a great man and he would lay on train tracks for me, and i would do the same for him. it's hasn't been easy, but no one said it would be.
but it's totally worth it.

  1. As all my newlywed friends have told me... The first year is the hardest. I try to keep this in mind when I randomly get upset or mad or frustrated. In the end, everything will be worth it. Just keep smiling for each other.
