12 Months.

12 Months. Happy 1st Birthday, Beckett!

Time sure flies when you're having fun!

Stats:

Beckett is now 26lbs and 2 ounces and 30 1/2" tall. His super straight blonde hair and big, beautiful eyes have become his trademark look. His hair is getting thicker and longer every day. We may get it trimmed sooner or later just so that he can let it grow out without looking completely ridiculous. He's still in size diapers, but we may get through the next 100 diapers and move up to size 5. In clothes he's almost in 18 months across the board, except in pants. Apparently he's got long legs, but is a little thin. I literally put on a pair of size 18 month pants on him from the Baby Gap the other day and they fell right off! His H&M jeans that are size 6-9 Month fit best. Definitely size 18 pajamas and Carter's play clothes though. Baby sizes are so weird. He's wearing size 12-18 mo shoes, size 4/5 moccasins and 12-18 month Robeez. He's got 7 teeth! 4 on the top and 3 on the bottom! 

Food:

Beckett sure loves to eat! He finally got his hands on some cake and icing for his 1 year old photos and for his birthday and let me tell you. Kid's going to have a sweet tooth like his momma! It was hilarous watching him take a little bit, then a little bit more, then handfuls of cake! He LOVES his Organic, Enriched Original Rice Milk, cold water, and toddler formula. He takes 9ounces of formula at bedtime and morning naptime, then its water and milk all day. He still loves Plum Organic's Apple, Cinnamon and Quinoa Oatmeal with a little Gerber Lil'Bits Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal for breakfast. We love Earth's Best Organic stage 3 jars.. chicken and stars are his fav! We also still use the pouches (Plum Organics, Sprout Organic, Happy Tots) when we we need to. He's been starting to eat more of the food we are eating and is more and more interested in 'real' food. He loves carrots, Lil' Crunchies Puffs in Maple Cinnamon, pickles and fresh tortillas. 

Sleep:

We (finally!) have a sleeper! After about pulling our hair out, we changed things up a little, tried crying it out, added a sound machine and blackout curtain and Voila! Bathtime, storytime, bottle with the lamp on, brush our teeth with all the lights on, then lights out! Beckett is sleeping soundly through the night! Colby sits in his room until he puts himself to sleep.. there was minimal crying at first and now theres nothing but some rolling around and chatting before he snoozes off to dreamland! I mean, i'm talking up to 11 hours of sleep straight! He sometimes gets up around 2 or 3am with a really wet diaper, but goes back down immediately after getting a dry diaper. We are SO proud of the improvements he's made in the sleeping department, partially because we are sleeping good now too. He's also napping a solid 45mins to an hour in the morning and an hour and a half to 2 hours in the afternoons. We will let him come snuggle with us in the morning if he wakes up, but other than that, he's loving his sleep and we are too! 

Awake Time:

Our busy little bear has been walking for a month now, and he's getting faster and better at navagating on two feet, so keeping up with him is quite a feat! It's so wonderful watching him learn and get better walking around, although it's kind of scary sometimes. I think babies should have to wear full body protection while learning to walk... there have been so many crashes! We can still take him out to dinner as long as we have plenty of food for him, and we go early. He is still hanging out in his Joovy Room2 if we need to leave him alone for a moment (you know, to use the bathroom!) He loves to play with all his toys, and go for walks in his smarTrike or in his Joovy Zoom360 to the park to go swing and slide. Now that he has all these fun toys he got for his birthday (we are taking a Pirate Ship water table, basketball goal, Duplo Blocks!, a Cozy Truck, and the coolest Bright Starts Stack 'N Spin Burger, and a ball pit, he's a playing machine! We also started Gymboree Play and Learn classes and Beckett LOVES them! (Thanks Mom!) He's making lots of friends, and has really progressed with his walking and climbing skills. Its really great if you have a little one! We have so much fun and it wears him out!

Personality:

Beckett Bear is such a little sweetheart. The older he gets the sweeter he becomes.. the hugs become tighter and the kisses become intentional, and the cuddles are priceless. He really belly laughs now, and is pretty ticklish. His huge smile is full of the cutest little teeth and when you make silly faces, he reciprocates! Its the funniest thing! He still likes to clap for himself and has learned to wave 'hello!' and 'bye-bye'! He also high-fives! He really loves loud poppy/ techno-y music and any song from the Jungle Book. He does have a teeny little temper when he's tired, so that's fun, but when you can't talk, you have to be able to express yourself in some way, right? He still loves watching 'Jake and The Neverland Pirates' and 'Curious George' and lights up when he hears the opening songs! He's 'talking' a lot more now, which is really fun, but nothing makes sense! He sounds like the Swedish Chef from the Muppets half the time, and its hilarious! When he gets really excited or really mad he does this hilarious hand shaking thing.. i really need to catch it on video!

Firsts and Milestones:

We celebrated his first birthday with a Curious George party with family and friends! Lots and Lots of walking! We took him to church a few times and left him with the childcare team and he did great! (Although one time we went to pick him up and he was outside getting walked because he "wasn't happy!" haha) Cake, lots of cake! Gymboree classes and making friends. He learned to sleep! He's been making bubbles in his bath... with his mouth! Looks like we need to start swim lessons. OH, he pooped in the bathtub. That was fun! Watched his first Super Bowl.

My sweet, beautiful baby boy. We cannot believe you are already a year old. Time sure does fly when you are having fun! We are so proud to be your parents and are truly amazed at the unconditional love that we get to experience with you every day. each day is an adventure that we gladly embark with you on. You have shown us how wonderful life is and we thank you every day for choosing us to be your parents. We hope you know how much we love you! Happy 1st Birthday, Beckett!
