let's get physical.

for me, the downhill race to summer has officially begun. like 2 weeks ago. its warmer, the sun is out longer, and i can see in 2 months that june is on the calendar. and that means only one thing. the evil swim suit season. most of you who know me know that since college i've been battling the bulge, and its not fun, or is it pretty. this time im serious. this time its for real. or its been serious for the last month and particularly the last few days. i dont want to hide in an enormous one-piece or a tacky-tankini (i have and wear them, but i don't like them.) i want to be proud to be me, and most of all i want to be healthy. and fit. and tan. that being said, CL and I have really been putting in extra effort. no soda, lots of water, healthy foods (and snacks) and working out 1-1 1/2 hours a day. no days off. its not easy, and its not going to be easy, but i have a short term goal (may 28th-ish for michele and eric's wedding and this gorgeous DRESS) and long term (june/july and THIS or THIS.. i can't decide. maybe we will have a poll later!) i don't want to care about the stretch marks, or the jiggly parts that have NEVER been 'skinny'. i just want to be fit and confident.

that said, this is my absolute FAVORITE piece of workout equipment. its called a bosu ball and its fantastic. i don't even think i can name all the workouts you can do with it. it works your core, your abs, your legs-- and with weights, your arms!! it is awesome. i'd totally buy one, but thats one of the main selling points of the gym (we go to lifetime- its awesome!!). CL has been there for me and pushing me hard and holding me accountable every step of the way. he will probably loose twice as much weight in half the time. ugh, men. if i could only get him to jog with me. if i can swim laps for him (which is totally a great workout!) he should be able to jog with me. but apparently he has "bad" knees. its always something ;)

ok, enough talk about working out. (DWTS Spoiler if you haven't seen it!) Buzz was booted off tonight. i was actually sad to see him go, even though i knew his dancing days were limited. im still trying to figure out who in the world is voting for kate gosselin?!? at least buzz is entertaining to watch and his wife, although she's had too much plastic surgery, is too cute. kate is SO awkward. ugh, i can't say that enough. maybe next week!!

Oops.

So i totally forgot to post yesterday, but nothing really spectacular happened, so that is probably why. i went to target to buy a birthday card and to waste some time before CL came home for lunch, but thats basically it.  and because i forgot to yesterday, i will post some pics of the easter egg party hats and CLs yummy easter meal. it was DELISH. and yes, were still eating the lamb for leftovers. it just keeps getting better and better.

did anyone catch 'dancing with the stars' last night? it is me or is it getting harder to watch? poor kate gosselin. she has zero rhythm. none. i literally cannot watch her dance. i still like nicole and evan, but we will see! and poor erin andrews (who is a ZETA)! she's been getting death threats for like the last week. good thing ABC is on top of things, and the FBI supposedly has a suspect and is all over it.

today im off to get my resume's printed (aka buy ink and print them at home) and to get my portfolio ready for a job fair on saturday for teaching jobs! im really nervous, but excited. i have NO idea what to expect, so wish me luck!

hoppy easter!

Sunday, April 4, 2010

happy easter everyone! i hope you all had a great day with your families and/or loved ones! we took it pretty easy. we went to our friends mom's house for brunch, attempted to go to church, and came back to the house relaxed, and CL currently has a stuffed leg of lamb in the oven. let me just tell you, it smells fantastic. like OMG fantastic. i attempted to make deviled eggs. and i dont know if there is a trick, but i am the WORST egg boiler. i cracked 3 eggs. they look super goofy when they are boiling and come out with what i describe as egg-party hats! at least the bunny slice-and-bake-cookies came out nice!

tonight on ABC is Extreme Makeover, Home Edition-- in Kemah, which is super close to my home in Clear Lake. Its about a family that married young (the husband said that he wasn't able to give her a wedding), started a family, adopted many children, some with special needs, lost their home home during Ike and have been living in a 32' trailer. Unreal. it is so wonderful that there are loving, caring people deserving of gifts like this. in world full of hate and judgement, this show brings those few people to the top and proves that there really is good people out there.  (PS the show has been on for 11 minutes, and i've cried 2x already.)

I love the day the maid comes!!

Friday, April 2, 2010

woo hoo! the maid came today! and my maid (who is ME by the way) spent the day in my pjs bleaching, cleaning, folding and dusting-- in other words, spring cleaned. i usually put aside one day a week and really clean, with bleach.it has to be done. for real.  as much as i hate it and how gross it can be, there is NOTHING better than taking a shower in a squeaky clean shower, using a bleached clean toilet and sink, not seeing any laundry or dishes and relaxing in your clean home. seriously. the next best thing is clean sheets, but that's tomorrows task! off to the grocery store we go tonight. the weather is supposed to be gross, so CL and i are going to spend the evening grocery shopping, and relaxing on the couch.

happy good friday, y'all.

i won the lottery!

Thursday, April 1, 2010

i wish! i am NO good at april fools pranks, BUT i figured i'd at least try and fool you! haha. the only thing CL and i could come up with to fool everyone was to tell them we were engaged/ married/ pregnant, and when we thought about it, we decided that it would be pretty mean. so no, sadly i didnt win the lottery and we are not engaged/ married/ and or expecting!

so this whole TeXes testing bit really has me in knots. i originally had decided to take the generalist 4-8th grades exam. then i saw the math, and freaked out. so then i thought, hey i could change exams to ec-6 and not have to do math... but me being me, i cant quit what i have started and decided to buckle down and take the original exam. i got a new study guide and some help (apparently CL is good at math, yay) and bought some time.. i only changed the date im taking the test. it really wouldn't matter because all the job fairs are all the way through june, so as long as its done by may- woo hoo!! so keep thinking the good math thoughts!!

nothing else exciting happened today. i went to my mentoring session at the elementary school- my mentee is too cute!, had lunch with CL and paid bills. april is a pretty quiet month, and im really kinda looking forward to it. minus the occasional bridal shower/trip home/ nights out, april is definitely the calm after and before the storm-- MAY is wedding month! woo!! yay michele and eric!!
