6 Months.

We have a 6 month old! I cannot even begin to tell you how quickly time has passed. In another 6 months we will have a 1 year old. Time sure does fly when you are having fun!
Stats:
Beckett is now 19lbs, 14oz (rough estimate) and 28"tall. (We go to for official stats on the 18th, so I had to weigh him myself!) He still has the biggest, sparkling blue eyes, and his blonde peach fuzz hair is getting thicker every day! It stands up straight no matter now hard we try and style it.. it seriously defies gravity! Still in size 3 diapers and is in 4-6 month H&M clothes, and 6-9 month in everything else. Some 12 month onesies even fit! He's still drooling up a storm from teething, but we have yet to see any chompers pop up yet, but one may or may not show up any second now!
Food:
Still milk only. I know. BUT since he is now 6 months old, we will start some organic rice cereal tonight! We are so excited! I wanted to exclusively breast feed for 6 months before introducing foods, so we have made it, and now get to start the fun! He's been SO interested in what we are eating, so we know he is ready. We will do a week of rice cereal before starting other foods. I fully plan on making all his food, and I have the best baby food cookbook that i cannot wait to try! He will continue to have milk too, but we will definately add in food for a couple meals a day.
Sleep:
For someone who is a great sleeper, he has had his ups and downs. He was sleeping through the night pretty regularly until recently. He's been getting up a few hours after going down.. I believe its because he's hungry though, and as soon as I feed him he goes straight back to sleep. Hopefully now that we are starting cereal he will be satisfied through the night. He takes a couple cat naps throughout the day and 1-2 good, long naps. He naps on the couch (in the crease of the cushions!) and sleeps every night in his crib.
 Awake Time:
Can we discuss how fun awake time is?! Every month he becomes more and more mobile, fun, and personable! He still LOVES his OBall OBounce Activity Center. It has 2 hooks on it and I change out the toys on it so he never gets bored. He's learning to bounce in it too.. its the cutest thing! He's also slowly learning to crawl.. or move on his own. He is sitting up on his own (yay!) in the triangle pose, and falls over a lot, but he is getting stronger every day. He LOVES bath time, or baby hot tub time, and is splashing all over the place now. I wish we had a bath tub, but we don't so he's still in the 4Moms Infant tub until he completely out grows it and we have to move him into the sink! He loves his new blocks I got him (they're soft and make noise!) and he is totally into chewing on everything now. Nothing is off limits! He is okay being on his own.. i've been giving him some independent time- completely supervised of course- by letting him play on the floor for a while. I want him to not have separation anxiety, so I sometimes open the bathroom door so he can't see me and see how he reacts. He's always so into whatever toy he's playing with that he never even notices im gone! Every night before bed, he chills in his bean bag while CL reads to him. Its the sweetest thing! He's really coming into his own, and Im loving every second!
 Personality:
Oh the Cutie Bear. Beckett is really the sweetest little boy. I can't imagine a baby being any sweeter! He loves us both equally and really lights up when we come home (CL from work, me from running). He gets so excited every time my mom FaceTimes him too! It's so cute that even though she's 1000 miles away, he recognizes her as soon as the iPad connects! He has learned to really belly laugh (video below!) and giggle all the time. He fake sneezes and coughs and thinks its HILARIOUS. We still get good cuddles out of him and I don't take any of them for granted. He gives really good 'kisses' and basically sucks the side of your face for as long as you will let him! He gives hugs and will hold his arms up to be picked up if you stand over him. Watching him learn is the best thing, ever. Molly even wants in on the playful action! She is SO sweet with him!
Firsts & Milestones:
Sitting up on his own! He had his 2nd photoshoot and was such a trooper! He also played in the sand for the first time in Capitola! He can get his entire food (all 5 toes) in his mouth and his entire fist.. hey, thats cool, right? He actually sat up and participated in story time last week and looked like such a big boy! He went to his first Baylor event (Send off Party) at a Baylor Regents home in Atherton.. im not going to say who's house it was, but he's a new regent and works for Oracle. He was such a hit in his Baylor attire! We also gave him his first popsicle.. a cube of frozen breast milk in a mesh teether.. he didn't love it as much as we thought he would! He attended is first baseball game- a San Jose Giants game, and he was great! We also introduced some educational iPad apps to him and he love them! He loves that its a piano and dancing shapes in fun colors! (we limit the iPad to about 5 mins a day) We drove him through a car wash (2x now!) and he was so interested in everything. I don't think he blinked once!

#WeRunSF Training: Week 1

Tuesday, August 5, 2014

As most of you know (if you're friends with me on FB) that i'm running a half marathon in October. I signed up on a whim for the lottery for the Nike Women's Half Marathon a couple months ago with the thought of 'i'll never get picked!". Needless to say when I got the email saying I was 'in' my heart dropped.
A half marathon? Me? With a baby? While breastfeeding? Have I lost my mind?

Yes. To all of it.

I can't say that running has ever been something i've enjoyed, but as I train, it's slowly getting easier. This is definitely a bucket list item, especially since B is only (currently) 6 months old and i'll complete this before he's 1! While it's helping me get in shape, it's also setting me up for a healthy lifestyle, and im hoping to keep this up to show Beckett that not only am I his momma, but Im healthy and active.

I've set up a couple smaller goals as I work up to the half, which has been really great! A 5k, a 10k then the half is where i'm headed! (Although I already ran the Sharks Fitness Faceoff 5k and run 5ks with almost every run now!) I've even almost convinced CL to run another 5k with me in September! Im running the San Jose Rock 'N Roll Half Marathon Mini Marathon (10k) in October, followed by the half 2 weeks later!

Anyways, training, like anything that is new has its ups and downs. Some days are easy and I feel great. Some days my legs feel like weights and my knees feel like they can't carry me.

It's been really great having an amazing support system at home. CL has been amazingly supportive with both words of encouragement and helping with B in the afternoons while I go for runs. He even sends me photos of B saying 'Go Momma Go!' He tracks me during my runs and knows when i'm on my way home so I even sometimes get the 'You're almost there!' texts as well! It doesn't seem like much, but they really help get through those miles!

My Mom and Dad have also been on support duty and have been sending me words of encouragement and running tips. It's really great to have them on my team! My mom even 'ran' with me the other day via FaceTime!

Now, what keeps me on track? The amazing Nike+ App partnered with the We Run SF app. Seriously. Nike has this down. The Nike+ app keeps track of all your runs and training mileage. I'm using both to help me train. They both have training programs so I don't even have to do the math on how many miles I need to run and when I need to run them or when I need to strength train and take a day off. Plus the two apps sync so that one knows that you actually completed your training.. now that's accountability! Plus, you can connect to other friends running the race, or challenge someone. It's been a really great, positive tool! I highly recommend it!

Oh and Thank you to Nike Training Club (@Nikewomen) for all the tweets of encouragement! It's really great that you interact with your runners!

So without further ado, here's week 1!

#fatgirlsruntoo

Its been a learning experience, but it's also been really great for my well being, posture, health, and soul. So follow me on my journey to a half! I'll be checking in every week!
