A couple of my dear friends threw me and Baby Louis the sweetest baby shower in May! While I didn't have a traditional baby shower with Beckett, this was a fun way to celebrate our new arrival and spend some quality time with my favorite girls!
It was star themed since I did Baby Louis' room in blue stars and it was perfect. I can't thank Taylor and Jamie enough! It was the best afternoon. We are so blessed with the best friends. I am one lucky girl!
I was so thankful that both my Mom and Momadear were able to attend too! Time to have this baby!
Hey gang. It's been a LONG time since i've written anything, and I hate that. SO much has gone on in the last few months weeks, and a lot has been weighing on me, and it's time to let it all out! So reader beware. This is a little raw and the language may be less than nice.
So, first things first. I'm now working part time, 100% from home. It's a dream job, and I am thanking my lucky stars that I'm able to provide shopping money extra income and stay home with Beckett. It's the best feeling, ever. I'm so lucky that this opportunity fell into my lap. Lucky lady right here!
I also haven't blogged in a while due to some bitch someone threatening me with legal action over something she referred to as slander. What she's not aware of is that not only do I have proof (CL was there) but Google chat and my old iPhone have written evidence of that what she's saying is slander is in fact the truth. Let's just say I would have NEVER married or stayed with a guy who sober or not would ever even think about laying a hand on me in a violent way. #JustSayin She thinks im 'obsessed' with her... "I'm not sure why my life is so interesting to you and why you are so obsessed with it." She thinks everything I blog, tweet, share on Instagram is about her.. truth is, I could give two shits care less about anything to do with her, her family, her blog... anything. The saddest part is that not only was I part of her wedding, she was part of mine. Such is life, I guess. (If you want more details, you can email me privately.) So, Fuck Off I'll be praying for her. (Im 99.9% sure i'll get another 'Please Stop' email regarding this too. I really hate how sensitive and entitled people are these days. Whatever.)
CL bought himself a new project.. A 1963 International Harvester Scout 80. If that doesn't ring a bell to you, you aren't alone! haha. It's got all original parts and once it's done, its going to be an awesome weekend vehicle. Im excited for him, but not excited about all the gross, dirty laundry that comes with restoring a vintage vehicle...
For those of you who know us personally, or have been following along for years know we have 2 dogs.. Molly & Bailey. Bailey was CL's dog before meeting me and I adopeted Molly after we met. Bailey had been part of our family since 2008 and with the heaviest of hearts left our home last week after a few incidents involving some biting nipping. She has found a new home with an Aussie Rescue and will be living out her days on lots of land herding whatever her little heart desires. We miss her terribly, but had to do what was best for her, and our family. We did all we could to keep her, but would never be able to live with ourselves is she turned on Beckett, one of his buddies, or another adult. (And before you say anything, we tried training, running her ragged, everything and putting her down or taking her to a shelter was not an option) It's still a fresh wound, and we love her dearly. It's been really hard.
I think that hits on the highs and lows as of recent. I've got a couple cool collaborations coming up and I *promise* that i'll be posting more often and more regularly!
One of my indulgences is family photos. I know, right? There is just something warm and fuzzy about having current family (and Beckett) photos around the house. So when the wildflowers started popping up it was due time for some new pics!
Kristen did an amazing job, per usual, capturing our sweet Beckett. He cooperated and everything! CL and I were also able to get a couple shots of just us.. the first professional ones since our WEDDING almost 3 years ago! haha.
Luckily with all the rain we've had, the flowers were vibrant, the grass was green, and for ONE day, the sun was shining! Here are a few of our faves!
I still can't believe we have a 1 year old! We love him more and more everyday!
I started planning his party a month or so before his birthday (seriously, don't plan out much more than that or you'll drive yourself batty!) We knew we wanted to do something 'Curious George-y' but we didn't want to go overboard. Tiny Prints (my fav!) had an invitation that was my inspiration for the party.
please excuse the awful 'photoshopping'. my laptop with my PhotoShop crashed and im having to supplement!
We used the Main Event: Bright Red Birthday Invitation suite (no longer available.. but check out all their other awesome 1st birthday designs here!).. including the invitations, thank you cards, and return labels and the Birthday Breakdown: Blue Moon personalized stamps. The colors of the invitations were the bread and butter to his party decor. It was a modern touch to primary colors.. a Bright Red, a Bold Yellow, and a Turquoise Blue! I loved how simple it was, but how big of an impact it made!
Since it was his 1st birthday, I went a little overboard. But then again, it's the 1st party he had and I was really thrifty, so whatever! I utilized the Dollar Tree and dollar section at Target, which was really helpful since they had all their red and white stuff for Valentine's Day! We did rent tables and chairs from Big D Party Rentals since we just moved in and don't have a house full of furniture. It was totally worth it!
We ordered Beckett's adorable Curious George Shirt from Monogram4Me on Etsy and Curious George plates, hats, balloons, and cups from Party City.
I made the tissue paper garland (from Dollar Tree tissue paper!) and made his hat, Happy Birthday Beckett banner, cake banner, and used all my monthly instagram photos of him for a cute little banner to show everyone how much he's grown (we may still have this up because it's so damn cute!). Market Street did the smash cake, cake, cupcakes and food.. and it was SO GOOD. Plus, I didn't have to cook which was a plus! We had crostini, croissant sandwiches, veggies, fruit, hummus with pita and olives, chocolate dipped rice krispie treats that I made. Having all cold food was super helpful too. No making sure that everything was warm all day!
Instead of having a sign in book, we had everyone sign and leave little notes in a copy of 'Curious George and the Birthday Surprise' It'll be a great memento of his first birthday for years to come! I hope he keeps it forever! (wishful thinking, right?)
It was so emotional singing 'Happy Birthday!' to Beckett. I literally choked up as we were on either side of him singing. He's the best thing in the world and we are so happy he chose us! He definitely went to town on his smash cake.. like I said, he definitely has his mother's sweet tooth!
Beckett was showered with lots of love and gifts! He was such a trooper and even sat with us as 'he' opened his presents!
For favors, we gave out copies of Curious George Books, bubbles, with some candy. It was so hard to figure out what to give out! I hope they were a hit!
It was such a fun, beautiful day. Beckett is one lucky kid! I can't thank my Mom and Grandparents enough for helping out with everything too! We literally couldn't have done it without you! We love you guys and are SO thankful for you!
We spent his actual birthday doing what Beckett loves best.. eating pancakes, and swinging and sliding at the park! I can't wait to celebrate next year and every year after with this cutie!
...and as a bonus, here's us singing 'Happy Birthday' and Beckett smashing his cake! Thanks to my brother Nic for the video!!
